Juju legend,King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal also called K1 De Ultimate and his Fuji partner, Sir Shina Peters, have differ over the possibility of present day pop performers running a band as a major aspect of their work.
The music titans were a piece of the 'Ariya Repete' Roundtable Discourse that included two-time Grammy Award Winner Lekan Babalola, Jaywon, King Sunny Ade's director, Clement Ige, Wole Sorunke and Hakeem Adenekan.
Jide Taiwo, Executive Editor of TheNETng, who directed the discourse needed to know whether Shina Peters lamented imbuing disco into juju music since more youthful artistes are presently being rebuked for not utilizing Yoruba dialect in their music.
SSP safeguarded his decision, saying his advancement was done to grow the skyline of juju music more remote than his antecedents had. He then proceeded by exhorting more youthful artistes not to dependably depend on makers to make a brisk beat for them, rather to figure out how to claim and run a band.
“You can imagine running a 28 piece band…can you imagine what that costs? And we that have bands like that have to do rehearsals every day. Meanwhile when we are invited to events such as wedding receptions, we’re expected to just plug and play like these hip-hop artistes. Let’s not even go into the type of money we’re offered compared to these young boys…”
K1 however communicated a disagreeing view; “You can’t expect everybody to operate that same way. For instance, at the position I am now, I don’t have to travel with band boys like we used to do. There are drummers and instrumentalists all over the world. I only need to rehearse with them for a few days and we can do a show together. Running a band is expensive.”
The Ariya Repete Roundtable Discourse, an activity of Nigerian Breweries beer brand, Goldberg, is a gathering devoted to supporting the rich legacy of Yoruba music types, Fuji and Apala and also finding new gifts.
Tryouts have begun March 13 in Ado-Ekiti, Sango-Ota and crosswise over eight urban areas in Nigeria.
